Fisher-Price has a long history. Founded by Herman Fisher, Irving Price, Margaret Evans Price, and Helen Schelle in 1930, the toys began as ponderosa pine and heavy steel parts that have moved to what they are today. Dr. Doodle was the first toy that was sold in 1931. Plastic began to be used in the early 1950’s and it made their toys even more popular and easier to manufacture. By the end of this decade, Fisher-Price manufactured 39 different plastic toys.
Play Family (later became Little People) were first sold in the 1960’s and sold more than all other toys they had made up to this date. Herman Fisher retired in 1969 and the company was sold to Quaker Oats Company the same year. They regained their independence in 1991 and became a subsidiary of Mattel in 1993.
Since the early 1930’s, Fisher-Price has created about 5,000 different toys. Their partnership with Mattel has focused their attention on infant and preschool toys of all different types. From Power Wheels to View Master to the Chatter Telephone and more, Fisher-Price offers classic toys that expand the imagination in the act of play.
Whether you are looking for toys for your own children or to give as a gift, you will find that Fisher-Price offers you a great selection of well-made toys that will be enjoyed for a long time.
